Bulldogs Claim Program’s First Conference Championship
Clarendon College Women’s Basketball was crowned WJCAC Champions Thursday night after a 68-60 win in the Dawghouse over #23 Howard College.
The Conference Championship is the first in program history. Head Coach Mark James understands the significance of the championship but says he and his team are not satisfied just yet.
“We celebrated Thursday night a little bit for sure” James said. “Cutting down the nets was a special moment that none of us will forget but we turned the page the next morning”.
James pointed out winning the WJCAC Championship was a goal set by the team at the beginning of the year but it isn’t the only goal they have. “We truly believed we could win the conference but we knew it would take a one game at a time mentality. Sure that’s a cliche and every coach says it but this group bought into that philosophy from day one and our goal every day is to go 1-0. Out next goal is to go 1-0 on Monday”.
The #11 ranked Bulldogs travel to Odessa College Monday, March 2nd at 5:45pm and close out the regular season portion of the schedule Thursday, March 5th at home against #14 South Plains College.
Region V Tournament information will be made available in the coming days.
